SFLB

I have a problem. My Sadie is sporting an SFLB. Also knows as, Short Front Long Back, or more widely known as a Mullet. She has worked very hard to grow this hair, and I don't think I am going to cut it. Lots of stuff from the 80's has come back into style, and I am sure the mullet will too. Don't you think so?

High Flying

We have had our trampoline for at least 5 years, but the net only made it through the first 2. It slowly disintegrated in the heat, until all that is left is the bars. Not as safe as the net, but incredibly fun for Megan who loves to swing on them. Eric has made them all different sizes, so she can do different tricks on each one. She catches some serious air, does some pretty cool tricks, and scares me half to death. I wish I had video of it, but pictures will have to do.

She also does some pretty cool high-flying tricks. She is in the process of swinging around the pole.

She ends by swinging herself onto the trampoline.

It is quite entertaining to watch, and I am slightly jealous I can't do it. For the record, I tried and couldn't. Do you think I should be concerned about a possible pole-dancing career in her future?

Have I mentioned before that Eric colors my hair. He has also cut it many times, but lately he has been on highlighting duty. Like couponing and shopping at D.I. it is just another way I save money during the recession.

Would you allow your husband to do this?

Four For Friday-All Dressed Up Edition

1. With the exception of today, this week has been hot, hot. Which has meant my kids have spent a good portion of it dressed in swimming suits. I have to say that my kids are quite wimpy when it comes to the Slip-n-Slide. Not one of them will slide down on their stomachs. I even demonstrated how to do it, and they still wouldn't. Slip-n-Slides seem much more cheaply made than when I was little.

3. I am a mom who generally allows her children to wear whatever they want. I say generally because there are definite exceptions. This was one of Jacksons creations this week. I think the monster truck shirt, combined with the hat on backwards, orange shorts, and cowboy boots is a look you can only get away with when you are 4. By the way we went to a number of stores with him wearing this.

4. I have also been doing some D.I. shopping this week, and have once again been very pleased with my finds. Look at these never before worn shoes I found this week.

I Would Never

I have had many self-righteous I would never moments. You know the kind that start out, "I would never let my child (insert undesirable behavior here)". Of course over the years I have had to bring myself down a notch. A few years ago I vividly remember looking at another child's fingernails (a boys) and noticing that they were extremely long. In one of my not so great judgmental moments I thought to myself, "How can you let your boys fingernails get that out of control. I would never let this happen." Well, in the future if you see my son's fingernails, try not to judge me too harshly.

My First Time

Last night was my very first time couponing, and I am already addicted. I really love to save money, and try not to pay full price for anything (red stickers at Target are my obsession), so couponing is perfect for me.

Here is my breakdown. I spent a total of $23.45 on these items. Before coupons, buy one get one free store specials and bucks backs, I would have spent a total of $65.98. That is a total savings of (get ready for it):

Not bad for my first time. Now it may not look like a lot of stuff, but you must examine exactly what I bought. The makeup alone would have been $30!

Jackson & Sadie Said

Jackson is known for calling things by the incorrect names. For years he called boobs, elbows. Since I found this hilarious, I neglected telling him the correct name for some time. Some of his recent interpretations follow:

12 X 12 April

Since Easter was on the 12th this month, these pictures will document what we did the rest of our day.
After the kids explored their baskets and we hunted for eggs, it was time to get ready for church.

The ironing board is always out on Sunday mornings, and this Sunday it was Eric that did the honors.

The kids walking into church. The weather was beyond beautiful today.

After church, we left town to go to my mom's in St. George. The drive down was very enjoyable. Sadie slept quite a bit and Megan and Jackson watched a new Tom & Jerry movie they received for Easter. The thingy (I don't know the name of) that allows me to listen to my IPOD in the car has been broken for months. Luckily for me Eric was able to fix it yesterday, so I had quite an enjoyable ride also. I always know that Eric can fix most things when they break, it just may take him a month or two or six.

We had a great time in St. George. We ate dinner, played at the park, and took a nice long walk on the Riverwalk trail. The highlight of which was seeing a stink beetle and a lizard.

I love this little picture of Sadie reaching for Eric's hand. We drove home much the same way we drove up, with movies, music and a sleeping baby.

This picture of Megan was taken right before she went to bed after being awake for almost 20 hours. She started her day at 2 am Sunday morning and it was almost 10 pm when she was finally in bed. Megan does not seem to need large amounts of sleep. She usually will sleep a good 8 hours at night, but every once in a while she seems to catch up on sleep and will wake up for the day at a time like 2 am when she should still be sleeping. She is really good about it though. She just stays in her room and waits for the sun to come up. She is also unaffected the next day. She shows no signs of tiredness and is not cranky at all. Have you ever had a child like this?

Easter 2009

We started off our Easter celebrations by coloring eggs. This year we used a tie-die kit and a regular kit.

The Easter Bunny did hop through our house on Sunday and left the kids baskets, and Easter eggs hidden in all sorts of funny places.


Sadie was not thrilled with Easter this year. We had to wake her up, which started her off in a bad mood, and then she was even more upset when she found out she wasn't allowed to eat all of the candy she found. After she found one egg, she gave up on egg hunting, but luckily Megan and Jackson did not. I am not entirely sure they found them all, and predict we may be finding some more in the next few days.

Before church we went out front to take some pictures. Why is it nearly impossible for me to get a photo of all 3 children looking at the camera at the same time or a picture with all of their eyes open. WHY?

I think Sadie may have been the most cooperative of the bunch.
