Kindergarten Graduation

Last Thursday was Jackson's Kindergarten Graduation. They have been practicing for weeks, and it paid off. It was quite possibly one of the cutest things ever witnessed, and I admit that I had 3 teary-eyed moments! They were supposed to perform outside in the courtyard, but since it was windy Thursday (no big surprise there), they moved the performance inside. 

This is the set they built.

They did a couple of skits, and sang some songs.

Then they handed out the diplomas!

After the diploma's were handed out each child told us what they wanted to be when they grow up. There were lots of teachers, fire-fighters, Wolverine, a transformer, and a police officer (Jackson's answer).

We then headed back to the classroom for the rest of the program. The kids performed all of the songs they have learned this year, in front of a screen that was showing pictures from the entire year.

I almost broke down when they started putting their arms around each other and swaying to the music, but somehow managed to hold it together. We then headed outside for lunch and the pinata!!

Jackson was so excited to have Eric there. When he saw him arrive for the program he could not stop smiling. He then turned to the kid next to him and said, "That's my dad." It was almost another crying moment.

With his diploma. Doesn't he look so cool in his cap and gown? Jackson had a great year, and is ready for 1st grade. If only I was ready to send him.

Friday was the 3rd trimester awards for Megan. Once again she received the Principal's Honor Roll Award, and the Great Attendance award!

She has worked extremely hard this year, and I couldn't be prouder.

Three For Thursday

1. I am happy to show-off my very first pinewood derby car, made exclusively by me!

I am pleased with the final product, and named it "Lightning Fast!". It was a no-rules Young Women/Young Men activity. I was unwilling to sacrifice cuteness by adding weight to my car, so it ended up not quite living up to its name.

2. Another Day, Another Shooting

Last night there was a shooting a couple of neighborhoods away from us. What I find so interesting is that my kids are not the slightest bit phased by it. Apparently they are true Las Vegans.

3. Am I the only one completely in love with Bret Michaels?

The bandanna! The Cowboy Hat! The rocker t-shirts! The blue eyes! His penchant for strippers! Okay, maybe not the last one, but still. I have loved him since I was 10. Yes, even during the Rock Of Love years. I am sure you can only imagine the peril I have been going through during all of his health problems, and waiting to hear if he would be at the Apprentice finale! I was so happy he made it. I just may have to go to a Poison concert soon. Anyone want to go with me???

Sadie has discovered the joy of making faces every time a camera is pointed in her direction. It is near impossible to get her to be serious these days, unless of course there is a bribe involved. It's a good thing funny face pictures are my favorite.

By the way, for all of you that love a good deal as much as me, I purchased this Baby Gap dress in perfect condition at the D.I. for $2! I think it is perfectly accentuated by the faces.

An Athletic Evening Out

I will start this post off by saying, heaven knows I love spending time with my kids, but it is so nice to do activities without them once in a while! This past Saturday we spent our kid-free time golfing.

First of all, I have never before seen so many bunnies in my life. They were everywhere! We almost ran over two, and one of my balls came within inches of whacking one on the head (It didn't even flinch!). They were seriously cute.

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I have to admit that I was pretty......TERRIBLE. I don't profess to be a good golfer, but this was almost a new low for me. It was so bad that after the first hole I told Eric I didn't even want to keep my score.

I was also doing some crazy move that I have never done before that caused me to hit my arm with a club 3 times! I didn't realize it was possible to get a goose egg on my arm, but I did.

Eric on the other hand had one of his best games ever!

Good for him! I am trying to hold no resentment.

Father's & Sons - 2010

The annual Father's And Son's campout was on Friday! Since the place they usually go was still covered in snow, this year they went to the Stake ball fields.

Tent City

Jackson and Eric spent a lot of time Friday night and Saturday morning playing frisbee, baseball, football and speed.

They also had a dutch-oven dinner, but Jackson instead decided to eat a roll!

But later they opened up the concession stands, so he filled up on hotdogs, snowcones and popcorn.

They also spent some time watching movies Friday night on this big screen.

After the first movie Jackson was pretty tired, so they went back to the tent to get some sleep.

Since Jackson enjoys sleeping on the floor, he had no problem burrowing down in his sleeping bag and falling fast asleep.

The next morning Eric and Jackson stuck around to participate in the Father's And Son's obstacle course.

It involved climbing over this big wall, riding in wheelbarrows, and doing a sack race. Eric and Jackson did great, and were in first place for quite a while, until the teenagers started competing with their Dad's.

Although it wasn't traditional camping, they had a lot of fun.
