The Art Connoisseur

Jackson is now a bit of an art connoisseur. Last week while driving past a pink house, Jackson remarked, "Just like Monet." I asked him what he meant, at which time he explained to me that Monet lived in a pink house. Good to know.

Then, while at the zoo, Jackson hurried over to me and asked for the camera. When I asked him what for, he told me, "The water and branches in that pond over there look like Vincent van Gogh's A Starry Night." He then proceeded to take this picture:

Child Randomness

A bit of picture and child randomness to report.

Megan

When you go to a school that requires uniforms, accessories and footwear become of the utmost importance (at least to my little fashionista Megan). Yesterday she was sporting a belt (over her shirt), a necklace, 3 bangle bracelets, and a flower ring:

Jackson

He continues to forget his backpack every day. I'm not being sarcastic when I say that I find it to be a truly endearing quality:



He also prefers to go to bed sans pajamas, wearing only underwear. So often in the mornings he is freezing and I find him wrapped up like this. Endearing again:

Sadie

After picking her up from Kiddie College, we always play a shadow stepping game on the way to the car. The basic premise of which is for me to run around like a crazy person while Sade tries to step on my shadow:






She always wins.

Spring Break - Our Time In Arizona

Eric has been traveling, and traveling, and traveling the past couple of months. The week of Spring Break was no exception. We were unsure if he was going to make it home in time to take our mini-vacation to Arizona, but he did, albeit a day late.

On the way, Sade asked approx. 100 times if we were there yet, and then fell asleep in this cute position:




Upon arriving, our first activity was to watch the Easter pageant at the Mesa Temple. Holy huge production! I had no idea. I expected hundreds of people, not thousands! We enjoyed some pizza while waiting for the production to start.




The next day we embarked on the part of our mini-vaca that I was most excited about: The Wet-n-Wild Waterpark! I love a waterpark, and this one did not disappoint. I just have a few pictures, because I didn't want to be beholden to the camera.







Sadie, Sade. She is not much of a waterpark fan. This girl of mine would not go down the tiniest of slides, or even step foot in the wave pool. She sat on the sidelines the entire day. I was feeling a bit bad for her, but she insisted she was having fun.



The next day, after attending some Easter festivities, we took Uncle Todd geocaching. We found this one on an overpass:



And then this one in a fake compartment that someone had built and painted to make look like it was part of this power box. Seriously amazing:




It was super hot, so instead of going to the Phoenix Zoo like we had originally planned, we went swimming:



Eric, Jackson, Todd & Megan participated in what had to be the longest chicken fight in recorded history.

The next day (Easter), we packed up and headed home. Back to real life.

Spring Break - Our Time In Nevada

I am well aware that Spring Break was 3 weeks ago and I am now just getting around to posting about it. What's a girl to do.

For the first part of Spring Break my mom and Ken came for a short visit!



My kids were beyond thrilled:



So was I:



One thing you should know about my mom:

 She is THE BEST pretend player in the universe! Seriously. She played store with Sadie for hours. This is a task I don't even attempt:




While they were here, my mom and I took the kids to McKee Ranch. I can't say that it was loads and loads of fun. More like a small bucket full of fun. First the kids fed some horses. Although I have pics of both Megan and Jackson feeding them, it must be said that both Sadie and Megan were rather scaredy cat about it:

We took a little, and when I saw little, I mean little, hay ride:

And they rode some horses:





Sadie cried the entire time. However, after she got off and we were walking away she informed me that she had fun and wanted to do it again:




Although Sadie and Megan had what I consider to be an irrational fear of the horses, this goat proved to us there was something to fear at The Ranch. Here it is trying to ram my mom:



All in all, it was a good way to spend about 45 minutes:




While they were here, we also took them geoachacing, went out to dinner, did some shopping, and just plain old hung out.

After they left, we still had one day left before leaving to spend the rest of our Spring Break in Arizona, so I took the kids and some of their friends bowling:






Sade doesn't like to bowl (SAY WHAT?!), so she cheered them on from the sidelines:
