Spring Guitar Concert

Megan performed in her Spring Guitar Concert last week. They played, "Oh, Suzanna, When The Saints Go marching In, Annie's Song, Over The Rainbow, La Bamba, and Take Me Home Country Road."

(Excuse all of the bad/grainy pictures: I forgot the SD card for my nice camera so I had to use my phone. It was a disappointment.)



The difference between the Winter Concert and the Spring Concert was staggering! Megan is not overly fond of guitar class (particularly her teacher) but he has whipped those kids right into shape. I couldn't believe how much better they were!

Megan is determined not to take guitar next year, but I am hoping beyond hope that she changes her mind.

Preschool Graduation 2013

Through the years I have attended two other preschool graduations. First for my little 4 year old Megan:

Soon it was time for the graduates to make an appearance. Sade walked the entire way like this, looking like she was going to die from embarrassment:



The three classes performed a number of songs:



And they each had a speaking part in the program. Sade was the last speaker and said, "My name is Sadie, S-A-D-I-E. We hope you enjoyed our program. Please enjoy our last song of the evening."



Then it was award time. Mrs. Aubrey said that Sadie is 5 years old going on 30. She also said she is very smart, and then turned to the audience and said, "I don't know where she gets it from." At which time I said,

"She gets it from me!"

Which was hilarious!

But apparently not to ANYONE else, as there was dead silence after my comment!

Not even Eric gave me a courtesy laugh.

 Hmmphh.......

She received the "Care Bear" award for, "Always putting others before herself."




Sade and Mrs. Aubrey:



Sade loved, loved, loved everything about preschool this year. And although she has been battling some anxiety issues concerning socializing, she always wanted to go to preschool, which was great!

Roos - N - More 2013

Last week Roos - N - More came to pre-school. First the kids visited with a ferret:

I am not particularly a ferret fan.

Then we saw an armadillo, which was neat to see all curled up:



Then it was turtle time. Not really a big thrill for the kids because Mrs. Aubrey already has her own Desert Tortoise, "Dino Mike", that roams the backyard:



Soon it was time for the snakes to make an appearance. This year they brought 2 baby pythons:



All of the kids had an opportunity to hold one if they wished to. When the zoo lady asked Sade if she wanted to hold it, she asked the zoo lady if she could put it around her neck instead.

She's a brave one:






Then it was kangaroo time:



And finally lemur time. She had all of the kids bend over, so the lemur could run across their backs. It was big hit:



It was an enjoyable morning, but couldn't really compare to the visit we had from Roos - N - More last year. To revisit it, click here.

The 200 Club

My little voracious reader Jackson recently became a member of the 200 club! Which means he has earned over 200 A.R. (Accelerated Reader) points.

For his effort he received a trophy:

Earning 200 points is no easy feat. He had to read many, many, many books. Currently he has the second highest number of A.R. points in K-3rd grade. Beaten out only by another boy who has over 350 points and is obviously a superhuman reader. Or an alien. :)
