A Walking We Will Go....

Guess what we are doing?????

We are walking to school!! Now, guess why??

Because we sold our car!! We sold it fast (huge blessing), and no wonder. Look how gorgeous it was. I did love it. It was pretty much perfect. But you know what was even more perfect? Selling it, which enabled us to pay off a bill that I REALLY wanted to pay off (huge blessing). So there will be a few sacrifices. Namely, I will have NO CAR! But hopefully only for a few days. My Volkswagen (huge blessing), that you can kind of see in the picture above, currently won't start. But I am looking at that as a temporary problem. We have 2 neighbors that are familiar with Volkswagen's that have said they will help us fix it (huge blessing). And even if it doesn't get fixed, as mentioned above, we can still walk to school (huge blessing)! Which I was actually totally okay with until this morning when I realized it took an entire hour to walk there and back!! That is two hours round-trip a day! But still a blessing, and completely worth it.

First Day Of School

Another first day of school!!! We got the backpacks ready the night before. I need to remember to bring the school supplies with me on back to school night. They were so heavy!

Jackson started first grade!

He is such a snacker I was worried how he would make it through the whole day without eating every hour. He made it, but did tell me his favorite part of the day was lunch. He also enjoyed P.E. and playing with his friends at recess.

Eric got home right in time to drop the kids off. He had been working all night, and worked all day today. He will be doing that again tomorrow, and then flying to Utah to do more work out there. I do not understand how he does it, but I am grateful  he can.

 

Megan started 5th grade!

She said everything about her day was great! Loved her teacher, loved her class, loved all her subjects. Didn't have one negative.

It was an adjustment just having Sadie home with me all day, but my house stayed remarkably clean!

Six On Saturday-About Friday

This past little while, I have been busy, just not busy with anything exciting to blog about! Just trying to prepare for school on Monday. I thought I was all finished school shopping, but after back to school night it seems another trip to Wal-Mart is in my immediate future. On a Saturday, no-less! Anyway, here is what we were up to yesterday:

1. I had to return an unfortunate D.I. purchase (picture a Bohemian style, all-white dress that made me look pregnant), and exchanged it for this cool red swimming shirt for Jackson. Since Jackson has insisted on wearing swimming shirts all summer long, it was a major score.

2. After the D.I. we went to our last summer swimming date. 

3. It was also back-to-school night. I am more than happy to report that both Megan and Jackson's teachers were very upbeat and kind. Major pluses in my book.

 Holding hands with Jackson was surprisingly initiated by Sadie.

4. We had dinner at Chipotle. As of last month they now have kids meals, and I find the trays they put them on adorable.

5. After dinner I rushed over to spend a little time with the Young Women at a Pride and Prejudice Party!

Unfortunately I couldn't stay for long because Eric had a soccer game, and I had to wait at home for our special guests to arrive.

6. They finally did around 9:30.

My kids didn't make it to bed until quite late, which has made Sade's beyond ornery today. In fact she just finished a 45-minute non-stop crying session, that finally ended with her falling asleep. Hallelujah!!

Summer Classes

Besides swimming a lot this summer, my kids have also taken a couple of classes from the rec-center. Jackson took gymnastics:

The beam was his favorite thing this year.

And Megan took a hip-hop dance class:

This was a seriously fun class, and Megan loved it.

She also took an art class, which was a big hit. They learned a lot of drawing techniques, learned about different artists and different types of art, and they painted. Here is a bit of her work:

All of the classes turned out really great. I can't wait until the new rec-center opens up!!!

12 X 12 - August 2010

I could not sleep the night before, so by the time I woke up Thursday morning it was 9:55 a.m.!

After I drug myself out of bed, we went swimming.

Notice my cool McClellan bag. I used to always carry around my swimming towels in a plastic garbage bag, until Rachael gave me this bag for my birthday.

After getting home, and after my shower, I continued my Book Of Mormon reading. We (The Young Women) are reading it during the month of August. I am happy to report I am all caught up.

And Megan fell asleep on the couch. HIGHLY UNUSUAL!

I did a little blogging later on in the afternoon.

Then made dinner.

The kids had their nightly Otter-Pop. Strangely they all chose green.

Also, strangely, they were all wearing green! Low-key, enjoyable summer day.

Bear Lake & Home Days 4-5

Eric, his dad, and brothers spent the morning of our 4th day golfing.

After they all got home, we went to the beach again.

Megan went out on the boat, but pretty soon returned because the clouds started looking like this:

Unfortunately we had to pack up and wait for the storm to pass. While we were waiting we decided to go get some fresh raspberry shakes. Bear Lake=Raspberries, so if you go there you are almost required to get one.

Of course I had to buy some to make freezer jam.

That night we took some pictures, hung out, ate and played games.

The next day it was time to head on home. We stopped in Logan briefly to see Eric's grandpa.

He adores all of his great-grandkids. His 50th was just born last week.

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I seemed to be entering a new face of motherhood. One is which my children did not cry and scream in the car. Well apparently that was a short lived phase, because Sadie was not all that pleasant to drive home with. So, we made a few stops. One of which was Cove Fort (Thanks Melissa for featuring it on your blog).

If you are ever between Fillmore and Beaver and need to make a stop, I would highly recommend this place. It was seriously cool!
