Sadie Said - Modeling Edition

When we were coming home from Utah we stopped to eat in Provo. While we were at the restaurant a woman approached us, told us she was a stylist, and asked us if we would consider getting Sadie into the modeling business (which in real life was less creepy than it sounds). We explained that we were just passing through and she wouldn't be able to do it.

 

Sade then remarked to Eric and I,

 

"Thanks for ruining my dreams!"

 

White & Nerdy

Being 35 I grew up in an era of timeless music. Rap, boy bands, and hair metal were all under my tutelage. But none can quite compare to the iconic singer, songwriter and satirist known as WEIRD AL YANKOVIC!

Kade (as in Baird) is also a big fan, so we went together. Eric and Amy tagged along too, albeit somewhat unwillingly.

But with at least 10 costume changes (including a fat suit!), segways, accordion playing and dancing storm troopers, Al won them over quickly.



And lest you think my post title is racist, or prejudicial against nerdy people, please be informed that it is the title of a popular Weird Al song. Although it begs to be told that I did choose that particular title because the only people that attended the sold out show were white and nerdy. Seriously.

We fit right in.

12 X 12 - July 2013

On Friday morning I DRAGGED myself out of bed at 9:19 am (I checked). If I don't have morning plans, I don't get up early. Upon awakening I had my breakfast/lunch (aka Brunch) meal of the day. This time leftover Greek food from Market Street Grill.

I don't even love cheesecake, but I LOVE their Pumpkin Baklava Cheesecake. Seriously try it.

Jackson joined me while I was eating and promptly had a "taste" of my drink:



I worry about his adult soda drinking future.

Sade playing on the piano. She knows one song and plays it over and over again. The first time she played it on Friday was at 6 am, and promptly woke everyone up. I obviously went back to bed.



I spent the rest of my morning thoroughly cleaning my bedroom and bathroom. While putting shoes away I began to wonder how many shoes other people have. I really like buying shoes and estimate that I have around 80 to 100 pairs, but have no idea if that is more, less or the same as other people. If you are reading this, leave me a comment, or send me a text letting me know how many you have.

I ran a couple of errands and then Amy picked us up for a visit to The Old Mormon Fort:



We thought it would be a good day to visit, as it was supposed to be cloudy with a chance of rain, but we were very wrong. It was a sunny, hot mess and we didn't last long. We then took a quick trip to the mall and then went to Sonic for a treat. Since it was dinner time we also picked up Sonic for the kids:



After dinner we did some quick cleaning up. Tucker has a conniption fit when the vacuum is on:



I then took a trip to Sam's Club. This is what my shopping cart looks like when I shop by myself:



I kind of just throw things in without much regard to spacial issues. But if Eric was shopping with me the cart would look drastically different. Every item would fit perfectly, as if it were a puzzle (simile!).

Eric had been in Kingman, AZ for the day, but had arrived home while I was at Sam's. He was there for a short period of time until he had to leave for his 10:15 p.m. soccer game. Needless to say we did not go with him.



While he was gone I was watching T.V. and got totally sucked into a freaky Dateline episode (a show I maybe watch once a year) about a murder. While watching it, Rachael texted me at 10:35 p.m. with this, "Random question...is Dateline on right now? If so what's it about?"

SCARY!

I thought someone stole her phone, was looking at me through the windows, and I was about to be killed (just like the woman in the freaky Dateline episode!).

It ended up being just a weird coincidence, but really that is crazy.

Utah - Highlights & Lowlights

Recently we took a quick, quick, semi-last minute (we didn't think Eric would be back in town in time) trip to Logan for Eric's family reunion.

Some highlights & lowlights.

First Highlights:

1. We were able to see Eric's 97 year old Grandpa who has unfortunately declined in health this past year. He couldn't make it to much of the reunion but we were grateful we were able to spend a bit of time with him.

2. We were also able to visit with my Mom & Ken, albeit for only and hour or two:

3. Games! Lots and lots of games. Like Bingo:

4. A major highlight of this trip was that Megan got to see that she is not the only one with parents who like to tease and embarrass their kids. Eric's brothers are pretty good at it too. Plus she lost a few of her inhibitions and even performed Karaoke!



5. Swimming with cousins! Highlight for sure.



6. Relaxing by the shaded river. Highlight! Especially since it was so HOT.



7. Early morning golfing and finding deer on the course. Highlight for Eric.



8. I have two sister-in-laws that have had babies in the last 2 months, so a highlight for all of us was getting to hold them, and then getting to pass them back to their moms and dads when they started to cry.





9. During part of the reunion we did a family service project. It involved cutting some sort of non-native weed down so it would not spread into the canyon. Now I enjoy a good service project, but one at 3 in the afternoon in the middle of a heat wave was a bit trying. Good thing we are Las Vegans and used to a little heat.



10. My final highlight: Getting to visit Logan in the summer. I maintain that there is no better place.



Now for a couple of lowlights:

1. Eric's immediate family was spending a few days at Bear Lake after the reunion. Unfortunately Eric had to be back for work and couldn't get out of it so we couldn't go this year. We were all disappointed but Jackson was beyond disappointed. I have truly never seen him so upset.



We were able to enjoy one late afternoon and evening there, but I think it may have just rubbed salt in Jackson's wounds. It broke our hearts to see him so upset.

2. THE DRIVE! Sadie was TERRIBLE. HORRENDOUS. ATROCIOUS. Crying, whining, annoying. It is only 8 hours but felt like 24.

I want to go back for another longer visit this summer but I don't know if I can face the car ride again. Alone this time.
