Preschool Pilgrim

I daresay if there was a 2012 Miss Pilgrim Pageant Sade would win.

Right?

She has been excited about her preschool Thanksgiving "feast" all month long and today was finally the day. We spent the morning making rolls for her feast and getting her outfitted up. This pilgrim outfit is one of those things that I couldn't be happier about owning. We have used it countless times over the years.

Not only has she had the "feast" to look forward to, she has also been looking forward to her field trip to the Natural History Museum which happened yesterday.

I do believe the kids were imitating eagles in this picture?

Although it was cooler at the museum than at the firestation, the guy who ran the tour was really great! He couldn't have been better with the kids.

More pics:

I enjoy this museum.

The Big Brag

Post in which I extol the academic virtues of my perfect children.
Megan!

I may have mentioned my disdain for science fair projects a time or two?

Well now I love them!

Not really, but I was happy for Megan when her hard work paid off and she made it into the science fair this year!

A few kids from each science class were chosen to participate.

Megan's project was about the 5 second rule. Her hypothesis was that the longer a food was exposed to the floor, the more bacteria it would grow. And her hypothesis was: Proved Wrong! More floor exposure did not necessarily correspond to more bacteria growth. Who would have thunk it?

Jackson!

His class also did a science fair project about parachutes. Here it is:

Last week he also had a project due about the election:

Did I mention that Jackson was a big Romney fan?

His father unquestionably has too much influence over him.

Also, I was just informed by his teacher that my little DJ Jazzy Jackson TESTED THE HIGHEST OUT OF THE ENTIRE THIRD GRADE IN MATH!

Brilliant I tell you!

And of course, Sadie!

Who loves pre-school with her whole heart.

Here she is modeling the drum she made (with a little help from her dad) for homework this week.

She is obviously a musical prodigy.

Home Alone

Eric and I found ourselves home ALONE Tuesday afternoon, as all of the children were in school. So naturally we did what any couple would do who found themselves in that position. We went golfing!

We went from hot weather last week, to freezing weather last weekend, to PERFECT weather Tuesday afternoon. Seriously it was gorgeous.

We golfed at the 3-par City of North Las Vegas golf course right by our house. I love it there, as I love a 3-par course and it is CHEAP!

As per usual the game was a challenge for me. Par was 27 and I shot a 66. That is a little over 7 shots a hole people! Eric did much better, shooting a 38.

Lovely afternoon.

12 X 12 - November 2012

This months 12 X 12 fell on Veteran's Day, so the kids were home from school. This usually means I can sleep in, however loud children conspired to wake me at the indecent hour of 8:00 a.m.!

Upon waking I had breakfast. Leftover chicken stuffing casserole! I love having leftovers and I love chicken stuffing casserole.
Tucker tried his very best to get some too:

What better way to start the day than with candy? Sade perusing the treats:

While I was getting ready, Jackson played a game in my bathroom that involved two balls, two ping-pong paddles, and lots of getting in my way:

Monday is my laundry day, which means this is what my couch looks like all day. Be forewarned that although I am posting a picture of this on my blog, I will not let you in my house if you visit me on a Monday:

Sade had a day full of personal strife! In this picture she is irrationally angry with me because I piled up all of her toys on the couch in an effort that I believed would make it easier for her to put them away. Needless to say she did not agree:

After getting ready, the kids and I headed out to do a little clothes shopping. It took us a while to get there (I missed my exit!), but everyone seemed to be in good spirits once we arrived:

H & M ended up being our first and only stop as it was so super crowded at Town Square. Jackson and Sade modeling hats:

The silver one ended up coming home with us. You may also notice Sade's jacket tied around her shoulders? She did that herself and then told me, "Look mom. I'm all ready for Girl Scouts."

Megan had no trouble at all filling her bag with wanted items. Megan and I have very different ideas about style, and sometimes it is hard for me to give up control. But I'm working on it:

After arriving home I dropped off the kids and then left again to pick up supplies for Megan's Science Fair project. I know I sound like a stick in the mud but, why oh why do we have to do these every year!!! Upon arriving home I helped Megan organize her board and tape everything on:

No I am not pregnant, just wearing a baggy sweatshirt!

Sade joined us at the table to work on a craft. Anything is craft worthy in her opinion. This time it was the top of the pizza box from dinner:

After crafting for a bit, she left to join Jackson in some game playing:

And then right before bed Jackson decided to paint Sade's face with mascara. Although he told her he was going to put it on her eyelashes, she told me that she thinks he meant to get it all of her face.

I happen to agree.

After the mascara massacre I put everyone to bed. Although the pictures may not show it, this day had quite a bit of whining, fighting, ungratefulness and complaining going on.

Tuesday was better.

Air Show 2012

I admit that I have some sort of mental block when it comes to the air show. I am incapable of enjoying myself. I told Eric that next year I just wouldn't come or I would go on some sort of medication to get me through it. It's irrational.
Although this year it was freezing cold, so my feelings could be construed to be somewhat warranted.

Anyway, the bus ride there was downright pleasant.

And seeing the Budweiser Clydesdale's was awesome:

We of course checked out all of the airplanes:

Later in the day these were filled with people trying to escape the cold.

Eric imparting his vast airplane knowledge on the kids:

The Raptor show was really cool. I liked it better than the Thunderbirds:

Checking out the helicopters:

Finally it was time for main event: The Thunderbirds:

This is the part of the show where my irrational feelings boil to the surface. I know that after the show there will be a RUSH to get back on the buses, and I could not bear the thought of waiting in line in the freezing cold for an hour.

Nevertheless, we watched the show:

This is how Sade watched most of it.

Fingers in her ears, hat over her face, trying to escape the noise and the cold.

Before it was all the way over Eric asked us we if we wanted to head back to the buses. We all responded with YES! I wasn't the only one not having the best time. The kids were freezing!

Next year will be better! I am going to change my mindset and enjoy myself!
(Just as long as the weather isn't terrible.)
