Adventure Angels - Laser Tag

Our Adventure Angels activity for February was Laser Tag! We played at Warehouse Wars inside Flip - n -Out.

 

 It's THREE floors full of stairs, hiding spots, boxes and fun! I totally recommend it.

We won game one, but got totally smoked when we all played together for game two. Our competitors were a bunch of pre-teen boys that had obviously been preparing for battle their entire lives. They won by a ridiculous amount.

Sweetheart's Ball

 A few Saturdays ago Eric and I were headed out to dinner. On our way, he pulled off the road and mentioned to me that there was a new geocache on the corner that he had been wanting to check out. Although I was in somewhat of a hurry to get to dinner, and I inwardly thought that we could just check out the geocache another day, I got out of the truck and searched for it with him. He was checking the coordinates on his phone while we searched under rocks and in the bushes. Not having any luck he said, "Maybe it's up by the fence?" I duly went to check, and found it!

As I opened it I started to get excited because it seemed that we were the first ones to find it! (Which is a kind of a big deal in the geocaching world).

But then as I opened it I noticed something different. Instead of a traditional log sheet, I found this inside:



Not ever having heard of the Sweethearts Ball, I thought we had intercepted some creative way a high schooler was asking some girl to a Valentine's dance. I asked Eric to give me a pen so I could write some smart-alecky reply like, "No way sucker!, or "If you insist." At which time Eric explained to me what the Sweethearts Ball was, and that he was formally asking me.

Is that not the sweetest thing? He's the best.

As I love to dance, I was so excited, and couldn't wait for the next Saturday night. Before the dance we went on a group date (high school style) with some friends.

As we all first walked in they were playing THE MOST BORING MUSIC YOU HAVE EVER HEARD! I was worried. The boring music went on for a while, but was eventually replaced with a plethora of dance music. Woo-Hoo!!!



Our group was filled with people not worried about embarrassment (myself included), which is the best type of people to dance with. Eric may disagree, since he was probably the one I was embarrassing.

I can't wait for the next one!

Valentine's Day 2013

I'm a low-key Valentiner. If I get a heartfelt card and taken out to dinner, I am a happy woman. Which is good because this year Eric gave me a necklace I had ordered for myself at Christmas, which he then lost, but happily found right before Valentine's. Yipee!

I maintained my commitment to buy store bought Valentine's for my kids to bring to school. However this year I waited until the day before Valentine's Day to buy them, which meant Target was completely out! Luckily I found some that had been discarded by a fellow shopper on a non-Valentine's related aisle. Hallelujah! I bought some tattoos, and bubbles to make up for it.

I did decorate the kids doors with love notes. Megan and Sadie took them down the next day, but Jackson (my most sentimental child) likes to keep them up for a good long while.

We go ever year. Although busy, not impossible to get into, which is why we keep going back. Plus I love it. It can't be helped.

Mama June And Me

The other day Sade and I were discussing the show Honey Boo Boo. More specifically we were discussing Mama June. At one point I asked Sade if I reminded her of Mama June. She responded with:

"No, not at all! You wear way, way better jewelry."

There you have it. The difference between Mama June and me.

 

Bed Flipping

The other day Jackson and Sadie beckoned me into my room to show me some new "tricks" they had developed.

Before reading this post note these two things:

1) We received a shipment of 30 boxes one afternoon when Eric was out of town. THIRTY! Big Boxes! I couldn't leave them outside, so I dragged (literally dragged most of them because they were so heavy), them into my room to await his return. Hence, the boxes in these pictures.

2) I didn't make my bed. I could pretend I took these pictures in the morning and just hadn't gotten around to it yet, but in actuality it was right before bed and my bed had remained unmade all day.

Ok. Now onto the tricks! I immediately told them to stop because it looked so dangerous, but then I went and got my camera and encouraged them to continue.

12 X 12 - February 2013

This post officially marks 4 years of doing 12 X 12's! I started WAY BACK in February of 2009, and have not missed a month. To look back at my first post, click here. You may notice that I had 9 comments on that post! I fondly remember the days of 10-20 comments.

Anyway......After breakfast Sadie generally steals my phone and either plays games, take pictures, or makes videos.



Lunch making! This time it was macaroni and cheese for both Megan and Jackson:



I am not pregnant (and there is no chance I am). But when I am pregnant I crave green Tums like crazy! Seriously. Until I deliver they are the only things I want. So imagine my surprise when the craving for them came back 3 months ago. I'm obsessed.



Soon after satisfying my craving, I received a call from Megan that she had left her lunch in the Warner Bus (the nickname for the carpool van). Which meant a trip to the van and then to the school for me and Sade.



Then it was off to the gym! It is wonderful that they offer childcare, and wonderful that Sadie likes it. I have been going to the gym FAIRLY consistently, but tend to lose motivation if I do not have a friend work-out partner.



After the gym Sade and I did a little grocery shopping at Smith's. I am a Smith's fan, but it physically pains me to pay dollars more for items (i.e. cereal, bread, nuts, produce) that I know I can get cheaper. However, strangely, their orange juice is always a great buy! At $2.68 a gallon it was crazy cheap yesterday.



Upon arriving home we discovered Tucker was out of water. We promptly refilled it and then watched him drink for at least a solid minute.



Sade convinced me to buy her this large donut from Smith's for lunch yesterday.



Although it isn't my week to drive carpool I did have to pick Megan and her friend up from play practice around 4:15. In this picture she is telling her friend to "Just act normal and ignore me." She is not overly fond of me taking pictures on the 12th.



For dinner I made the Balsamic Roast (found on Pinterest) and Sadie and I also made some bread:



After dinner, Sade made some more videos on my phone, and then sat on the couch and belly laughed hysterically each time she watched them.



Eric was working late, so the kids and I spent the night doing homework, getting ready for the next day, watching T.V., playing games, and working on the Candy Grams they intended to buy for their friends:
