Star Stallion!

If you have ever read my blog you know that I am not shy about bragging about my kids. I can't help it! I have perfect children. Wink, Wink. Megan had an awards assembly last week where she received an award for A/B Honor Roll, AND was chosen as a Star Stallion! It's kind of a big deal. Every quarter each middle school teacher (I think there are 9 of them) chooses 2 students to receive the award. Lucky little Megan was chosen by her Explorations teacher.

Here is what her teacher (Ms. Thomas) had to say about her:

"I have been impressed with this student since the beginning of our time together this year. She is a very good student academically, can be somewhat quiet, is very sweet, petite in size, and very much a young lady. But don't be deceived by all of this! She is also a little fireball when it comes to expressing her opinion or debating with another student. She is very sure of herself and of her beliefs. During our studies of Consumer Economics she showed a very smart head for business. It is for these reasons that this quarter's Somerset Stallion Exploration award goes to Megan McClellan."

And then the crowd goes wild! Or at least her mom claps real loud and does quite a bit of Woo-Hooing!

Springs Preserve - Field Trip

Sade's class had another fun-filled field-trip. This time to Springs Preserve.

Everday Life - Steamroller

Whoops.....I uploaded these pics a couple of months ago but just realized I never posted them.

We love our trampoline. The kids play on it all the time, but especially love to play on it when Eric gets involved. Their favorite game is steamroller. Apparently one of them lays on the trampoline and then the other people have to jump over them as they roll around:

I am also known to get some trampoline action, but am limited to crack the egg, general bouncing, and a bit of ring around the rosie:

Mother/Son Games 2012

Last Thursday was the Mother/Son Games at the kids school! Like I said previously, I made sure we wore matching outfits. Check out the picture creeper:

They had 10 different events for us to do. First we stopped at the hula-hoop station. I actually had a conversation with Megan earlier in the day about hula-hooping and mentioned that I didn't think I could do it anymore. Apparently I was wrong. I ended up winning. Suck that Rachael!



The boys ended up doing a bit of neck hula-hooping:



While outside we also participated in a rather violent soccer game with a ball about the size of the boys, and fought a tough battle of tug-of-war. I won't mention the winners, but it wasn't me and Jackson.

We tried the 3-legged race. Jackson had hurt his foot on the trampoline the day before, so it was a bit tough for us:



The balloon popping activity and sponge activity were quite a lot of fun:







After completing all of the outside activities we headed inside. We played a life-size game of Twister (no pics), and also had a whipped cream eating contest. Neither Jackson nor I really like whipped cream, so it was a bit torturous. But super fun all the same:

And then ended the night by shooting some baskets. I would like to report that I made 2 out of 3! That has to be a new record.






Before leaving Jackson participated in another tug-of-war game against some moms. The boys didn't stand a chance:

12 X 12 - April 2012

My morning started off by making lunch for Meg and Jacks:

It was my turn to drive carpool. I generally wear more workout type clothing to drive them to school, but that morning I was wearing what were most decidedly pajamas. I sincerely hoped I would have no car problems that would require me to exit my car.

You may remember that about a month ago I had the stomach flu. Well it just so happened that that day I had eaten salmon for lunch and Chipotle for dinner (my 2 favorite things!). Since then I haven't been able to fathom eating salmon, so my new obsession is tuna fish sandwiches. Yesterday morning was no exception:

Sade and I then got ready and headed out to pre-school. She enjoys walking along the border of the yard. It is time consuming and I don't always allow it.

While at pre-school I ran errands. I went to the bank, returned a skirt to Justice, and visited my most hated place: THE POST OFFICE. I avoid it at all costs, and if there is even the remotest possibility Eric can go for me, I make him. Unfortunately he was out of town, so I had no choice.

I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.

After running errands I read in the car for a bit. I try and read at least 10 pages of the Bible a day, but it occasionally gets pushed to the side when I discover a book that I adore. Which happened last week. Nevertheless I am back on Bible reading track.

By the way, the book from last week was The Lovely Bones. I recommend it!

Pre-school pick up. One of my favorite parts of the day is when I walk in to pick up Sade and she says, "I see my Mom!" Then she jumps up and waits in line for her Jelly Bean (which she never eats, and we just throw away).

My afternoon consisted of cleaning and laundry. I have a new laundry system that is so far working out for me. I only do laundry once a week. I do it all day, dump it all on the couch, and then sit down and fold it all at once. Since I dislike it so much it is better for me to only have to focus on it once a week.

After the kids got home, Jackson and I got ready for the event we have been waiting for for weeks. The Mother & Sons Games! I made sure we wore matching attire:

Megan, Sadie and Eric were still at baseball when we got home, so Jackson and I played Blockers. I had never played before and it took me until nearly the end of the game to understand the concept. Jackson won.

All week my table has been littered with paperwork in preparation for our tax appointment we had today. EVERY YEAR we wait until the last minute! I had to sit down and finish the last bit of sorting.

The rest of the fam finally got home around 8:30 p.m.

Busy, fun, normal day.
