Lost Creek- Again

Last, last Saturday Eric proposed a trip to Red Rock to do some hiking AND THEN a evening trip to Wet - n - Wild. I'm sure glad I married him.

First hiking!

It was rather hot (obviously) so we decided to do the kid friendly Lost Creek hike, which is not only easy and short but also shaded during the afternoon hours.

Hiking in with gangsta' Sade:

Waiting for me to catch up. I'm always last.

Lickety split we reached our destination. During the winter/early spring months the trail leads to a waterfall. But during the summer it's all dried up.

Nature pics:

Megan spent a significant amount of time hiding and then trying to scare Jackson and Sade. I'm pretty sure she wasn't ever successful.

There was quite a lot of rock climbing:

Cooling off:

No outing is complete without a family pic:

After a bit we headed back to the car.

Sometimes they are sweet to each other:

And then we went to Wet - n - Wild for the evening. Good day.

Swimming Lesson - 2014

Sade had a couple of weeks of swimming lessons in June. This year she focused on learning all four strokes (last year she didn't learn butterfly).

Warming up:

She spent a significant amount of time on backstroke and also on just using her legs to get her across the pool:

Freestyle (she is still trying to correctly master side breathing):

Breaststroke (at least I think this is what she is doing in these pictures):

It's her favorite stroke and the one I see her use most often when we are swimming.

And butterfly (which she surprisingly took to very well):

She also spent time learning to tread water, and then how to maneuver to your back to float if you ever find yourself in trouble in the water.

Miss Sandy would throw her in:

And then Sade would move onto her back:

One more pic just because:

Sade's confidence in the water has really increased this year. If we are near a pool she is the first one jumping in and swims all over. Hallelujah!

Jackson/Sadie Pics

Jackson has always been affectionate. It's one of his most endearing qualities. If he is sitting next to you at dinner you will often find him leaning against you, or find him with his hand on your arm. And he is no different with Sade. I snapped these pics of them the other day, and although they are a bit hard to see, I enjoy them.

Taking it too far:

Bear Rank Advancement

Last month at pack meeting Jackson received his Bear advancement. After eating, swimming and lots of playing we got down to business.

Receiving his Bear patch from Brother Truman:

And then ME receiving MY pin:

It's still a thrill.
