Cheer Showcase - Megan

Megan had her cheer showcase in May. It was a chance for them to show all of us (parents) what they have been working on all year. As I mentioned, this started as an after school "club" but quickly turned into a serious team. In fact, it's so serious that they held tryouts all last week to determine who would get to be on the squad next year.

Their coach was......intense. It would have been frightening to me, but luckily Meg wasn't at all bothered by it.

At the end each girl received a trophy:

And if you feel compelled to tell me not to post my kids names/school on my blog (and you can, I won't take offense), please know that posting personal info. like this doesn't bother me at all. I don't lose any sleep over it.

Sorry for the part sideways view. I can't change it!

Cheer Showcase - Sadie

Sade's cheer showcase was a week after Megan's. In total they had about 40 girls from Kindergarten to 5th grade.

They learned a total of 12 different cheers! Which is no small feat when you are dealing with so many little girls at once. Ms. Smith is pretty amazing.

Lots of cheering pics. I couldn't help myself:

Boom Dynamite.

After the performance they gave all of the girls trophies and pictures:

I have a lot of complaints about the school this year, but they did cheer up right.

Pinewood Derby 2014

Another year, another pinewood derby. Once again Jackson had a vision for his car, and executed it well. After cutting it out and getting it painted they (Eric & Jackson) hung it up to dry:

Then Seahawksafied it. They printed Seahawks logo's and symbols onto sticker paper and stuck them on:

Finishing wheel touches:

His competition:

Jackson named his car "The 12th Man":

Then they raced!

During the races Jackson's car came in first once, second twice and third once. Which put him 8th out of 18 cars! I count that as a success.

The derby seems a bit luck based. It just seems weird that you can make two cars the exact same way, and they can weigh the same amount (like the Noble twins) and one can win first place and the other one comes in 12th. I don't understand it.

My favorite pinewood derby building boys:

Only one more derby year left.
