12 X 12 - January 2014

We switched to 1 o'clock church this year and I can't begin to express how much I love it! I know I am in the minority, but to me being able to sleep in makes it so worth it. We won't mention that the kids and I were still 5 minutes late to church (I COULD NOT FIND something). Anyway...I finally forced myself out of bed and discovered it was 10:02 a.m.

Which is my birthday month and day (10/02). I always notice the clock when it is 10:02. Eric always notices the clock when it is 11:11 (no birthday significance for him). Does anyone else have this bit of kismet? Also, I have changed my wallpaper screen to a shot of money so I can bring more of it into my life this year.

Bath time for Sade:

While getting ready, Tucker came and relaxed on one of his favorite perches at the end of my bed:

I finally forced Jackson to cut his nails. He is content to let them grow and grow and grow (gross), so I have to step in:

Sade snapped this pic of Megan playing the piano. She has finally consented to piano lessons (yippee!) and starts this week:

(Try to ignore the ginormous box of hockey equipment on the floor).

I snapped these pics of the kids at church. They both sit on my side by the piano this year, and I love having such a good view of them. Although bitsy baby Sade is in the very back row, so I don't know how much she can see.

But Jackson sits literally right next to me. Lucky him and lucky me!

Just a quick car self-portrait (selfie?) on the way home from church:

I thought that when Eric was released as Ward Mission Leader and didn't have to attend Ward Council anymore that he would get to drive with us to church. But that has not been the case. He always has some other meeting to attend or has to go pick people up or take them home.

Upon arriving home we did a bit of cleaning. It was Jacksons turn to unload the dishwasher. It takes him an inordinate amount of time.

Eric called on his way home and asked if the kids and I would like to drive out to the library with him. He had to leave town early this morning (Monday) and hadn't had time to get any new audio books to listen to on his drive.

I really love driving around at my favorite time of day (dusk) and I really love him:

We had to drive out to the Centennial library and all I can say is "WOW!" It is high tech coolness. It was so high tech we had to have assistance while checking out:

When you compare this library to the Aliante library it becomes glaringly obvious that Las Vegas has a lot more money to spend than North Las Vegas.

Upon arriving home we all played some Just Dance 2014. It's a hit with the entire family.

Good Sunday.

At 6

Sadie baby turned six on January 4th! I have been unable to upload any pictures for over a week, so this is a bit late.
At 6.....

Every night after we tuck her in she says, "Check on my early and watch T.V.." (She likes to hear the sound of the T.V. in the other room when she falls asleep).

She sleeps with a nightlight and Bedtime Bear each night.

It takes her a while to become comfortable around people, so to get to know the true Sadie you have to spend a lot of time with her.

She is extremely well-behaved, especially at school.

She loves to help, and you will always find her helping me at home (especially while cooking) or at school helping other kids.

She is very thoughtful. She even made and gave US presents on HER birthday.

She is also wildly inappropriate. The other day Megan mentioned that something was inappropriate. Sadie remarked, "Oh really Megan. You have lived with me for how many years and you find THAT inappropriate?"

The smell of gum sickens her. On our trip to Logan last week Eric pulled out some Winterfresh gum and I thought she was going to throw up. The complaining lasted at least 30 minutes.

She is completely grossed out by declarations of love or kissing on T.V. If she ever sees it, she makes throw up noises, hides her head, and tells us to let her know when it is over.

She very rarely gets into trouble. If she does, a trip to her room works wonders and she is usually out within 5 minutes.

She is a planner. She wants to know the order of when we are doing things (a girl after my own heart), and wrote down all of her birthday plans in order. Including when to have breakfast and when to go to bed.

When she saw we had put up pink and purple streamers for her birthday she said, "The pink and purple are ok, but I would have preferred blue and green (Seahawks colors)."

The girl can talk LOUDLY and likes to be heard.

She can be quick to anger and goes from whisper to scream in 2 seconds flat.

There is no other way to say it except to say, she is bossy. Especially with Jackson.

She hasn't really ever been a picky eater. She loves to eat and is almost always willing to try new foods.

If we (me and Eric) are ever eating something, she comes and sits right next so we will share with her.

She is a habitual snacker.

Once in a bad mood it can be difficult at times to cajole her out of it.

She is definitely the most sarcastic 6 year old anyone could ever hope to meet.

For at least a month she had been counting down the days to her birthday and also the days to her "birthday eve."

She hides her face and moans and pretend cries every day when I comb her hair. (She has snarly hair like me, but too much conditioner weighs it down; its a quandary).

The girl makes us laugh countless times a day, is pure sunshine in our lives, and we feel beyond blessed to have her in our family.

Sadie's 6th Birthday Celebration!

Sade started off her birthday celebrations with a trip to the movies to see Frozen. We all loved it, of course.

Then it was back home to open presents! A few days before her birthday she had wrapped presents she had for all of us. She made me a necklace, gave Megan one of her bracelets, gave Jackson a pirate eye patch, and....

Made Eric this rainbow:

After having us open our presents it was time for her to open hers.

She received a new hula hoop, clothes, books, a birthday Barbie, different Playdoh sets, and cold hard cash!

After opening presents she decorated her own cake:

Then if was off to Flip - n - Out. Her choice of course:

And then to Cici's Pizza (my fav). Sade was a lucky girl this year because Grandma and Grandpa were here to celebrate with her.

And then finally back home for cake:

The candle blowing out took approximately 10 blows. Seriously.

It was a fun filled, perfect day for the perfect birthday girl.
