It's The End Of The School Year As We Know It.....

And I Feel Fine. Extra points if you can guess the song that inspired my post title.

Well it is finally the end of the school year! And the thing I am looking forward to most is banishing all polo shirts from my house for the next few months. I am sick to death of seeing them 5 days a week. I have spent A LOT of time at the school this past week. And therefore have lots to document.

I attended two awards assemblies. Jackson received an award for Principals Honor Roll:

Megan received an award for Honor Roll, and Great Attendance:

There was once again a problem with her report card! Oy Vey! I don't know if I have any fight left in me.

Megan also graduated from 5th grade! She is officially a middle schooler now.

After the graduation ceremony we headed over to her classroom for refreshments. The scene was quite sad. Girls were crying. Boys were crying. Her teacher was crying, which made me cry. These kids have loved being together this year, and they truly loved their teacher. There was quite a bit of sadness that they would not all be going to the same school next year. Heartbreaking.

Oh my.....I am a bit worried that given my advanced age, I may not fit in. But I'm always up for a new experience. And did I mention I am now in the running for a trip to New York City! I will freely admit that that was my main motivation for calling the radio station. Woo-Hoo!

Cheerleading!

Little Sade just finished up cheerleading class. I'm not going to lie: It was majorly cute, and she LOVED it!

She excelled at the forward roll:

Check out her little hand on her butt. They were supposed to rest their hands on their backs, but not one of them could ever remember. It was unbearably cute.

Wee Bit Wednesday

Never. Not even once.

Anywhere. But I would love, love to tour all parts of Europe.

{four} what is your favorite outdoor activity?

Bike riding. We have been riding with the kids at least a few nights every week.

{five} as a child, what did you want to “be when you grew up”? did you end up there?

I always wanted to be a news reporter. I truly never imagined myself as a stay-at-home mom, but now I can't imagine not being one. Today I am spending the majority of my day at my kids school watching awards assemblies. I feel so incredibly grateful that I can make every single one of these events.

{six} what are 3 things your dream home would have that you don’t currently have?

More space, more character, large outdoor space.

{seven} what’s for dinner tonight?

I have been on a quest to cook dinner everynight, however tonight, since I am so busy, and Megan has Activity Days, and I have Young Women's, I am thinking the kids may have kids meals from Sonic (they are half price on Wednesdays), and I may have Chipotle (My Fav).

{eight} if someone stopped by your house unannounced on a typical Saturday night, what would they find you doing?
If someone came to my house on a Saturday night, they would not find me at home. Saturdays are my night to party (with the kids and Eric of course).

{nine} what’s your average monthly water bill?

Hmmm...I don't know exactly how much we spend on water, since the bill is combined with sewer and garbage. But that bill is usually between $75 and $90 a month.

{ten} what do you do to relax?

Talent Show

Last week Megan participated in her schools talent show! It was a process that involved try-outs, and multiple after school practices. They ended up having 50 (that's right I said 50) different acts, which resulted in a 2 hour and 15 minute show. Luckily most of the acts were highly entertaining, so the time flew by.

My little creative spirit Megan, made up her own lyrics to the song Dynamite.

I do not know how to transfer the video performance to blogger, so I will have to make due with pictures.

The first verse of the lyrics she composed are:

She did a great job, and exited to a rip-roaring round of applause.

The teachers also did a fabulous job.

Lady Ga-Ga was one of the hosts.

And the D.J. was pretty stellar.

Not to mention all of the parent volunteers, including ME. See all of those stars decorating the backdrop. I cut everyone one of those out. I will take my accolades now. Thank you.

Megan's entire class also did a performance. It was to the song Walking On Sunshine, along with a song from Glee that I am unable to remember the name of.

It was impressive.

The talent show was dedicated to their Principal who is retiring this year. So for the final act, the teachers did a performance based on the popular you-tube video of the wedding party dancing down the aisle. If you have never seen it, you can watch it here.

It was all-around wonderful, and I had a hard time staying in my seat! I wanted to dance down the aisle too, but somehow restrained myself.

Father's & Sons - 2011

Weeks ago (obviously I haven't been blogging), Eric and Jackson attended the highly anticipated Father's and Sons campout!

I can't get Jackson to clean his room, but if we enlist him to help pack the truck he is all over it. Really any project that involves fixing anything, or being outside, he is a willing participant.

He made darn sure he didn't forget any sports equipment.

According to Eric, once there, Jackson spent hours and hours just playing with his friends. A perfect night for a 6 year old.

When it got dark, Eric informed me that Jackson sat around the camp fire telling stories, that had all of the other boys laughing. Jackson and Eric were unusually tight lipped when pressed about what the stories were about. Hmmmm.......

They finally went to bed at 12:30 a.m.!

Jackson fell right to sleep, but woke back up around 3 a.m., and started to put on his jacket. Eric thought that he was just cold, but after he put it on he tried to leave the tent. Apparently there were still kids running around outside and Jackson wanted to join them. Although Eric allows quite a bit a freedom (hence the 12:30 a.m. bedtime), he put the kibosh on that. Every year I say the same thing, but I will say it again: WHO IS LETTING THEIR KIDS RUN AROUND AT 3 AM! It's strange.

The next day while Eric was helping to clean up, he couldn't find Jackson. He finally spotted him out in a field trying to join a kickball game that the singles ward was playing.

I'm sure Jackson could teach them a thing or two. He LOVES kickball and plays it everyday at school.

Another year, another great time had by both!

Us girls of course had a great time too. Sadie may not look happy in this picture, but she had just eaten a lot of frozen chocolate yogurt (which we told her it was ice cream), so I can assure you she had a great time.
