The One And Only Track Meet

After all was said and done there was a grand total of ONE track meet through the school last year. Jackson ended up KILLING IT with first place victories in the long jump, shot put, 60 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, AND the mile run! It was an exciting day for him.

He has kept up his running ways this summer. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings he runs between 3 and 5 miles with a friend. He loves it.

At 14

At 14...

She had a major growth spurt this past year. Growing almost 4 inches!

She has a "gentleman friend" named Austin.

She loves Hunter Hayes.

She takes pleasure in organizing things. Like kitchen cabinets. Score!

She's still a fan of Froot Loops, ice cream and M & M's.

She quite often fights me about taking her picture.

Kids movies have lost their appeal. She would rather stay home when we go see a new movie. (I still force her to come).

She has really taken to piano, and practices at least once a day.

She's still a fan of T.V.

When she is in her room, her music is always on.

She is like a grown-up helper. I can leave her a list of things to do while I'm gone, and they will be done when I get home. And will be done very well!

She just got her ears pierced. Again! The first time was when she was 8, but she let them grow back in.

She made the decision to forgo Northwest, and has decided instead to go to Somerset Losee.

She texts her friends. A lot.

She's an amazing mathematician.

Getting her to read is still a challenge. I'm pretty sure she has been reading her current book for the past 6 months.

She is patient with her siblings one minute, and extremely annoyed with them the next.

She needs a bit more sleep than she used to. Sleeping in on occasion (until around 9 am).

She doesn't suffer from homesickness. Being away this summer for girls camp and high adventure wasn't hard for her at all.

We think she's the best.

Megan's 14th Birthday Celebration!

On July 7th Megan turned 14! Seriously. We spent the morning piddling around, and the afternoon shopping and getting her hair cut (trimmed). Megan decided that she wanted to play laser tag at Warehouse Wars so that is precisely what we did. She had never played before. Neither had Eric or Sade.

It's fun. Truly we all enjoyed it, but after a couple of games we were SO HOT that we were literally (I can't say that word without thinking about "The Fault In Our Stars" or the new Weird Al song! Anyone else?) dripping in sweat. Even me, and I really don't sweat.

We then went back home so Meg could open her gifts.

Sade made Megan a large card and gave her $1. She actually accidentally gave her $21 but promptly took back the twenty when she realized her mistake. We are still laughing about it.

Jackson made Megan a hilarious coupon book that had coupons that said things like, "This coupon is good for one free Instagram like" and "This coupon good for one full day of wearing my silver hat" (Megan is always trying to steal it from him).

She also received lots of stuff for her high adventure trip that was beginning the next day, like a CamelBak, new water bottle, sunglasses, socks, etc. She also received money, a new hair dryer and a new iPhone 5s. I think she was a happy girl.

She chose Zaba's for dinner. Mostly because she wanted to make sure she wasn't too full for dessert (we always overeat on birthdays). Happily we were not too stuffed after eating so we were all able to  enjoy our Cold Stone ice cream (Megan's choice of course).

Happy 14th Birthday Megan!
