Eclipsed

The last time I remember seeing an eclipse was in elementary school. For some reason I thought it was on Monday, so we very nearly missed it. Luckily I was on the computer late Sunday afternoon and realized my mistake. It didn't leave us much time to get the supplies ready, but it ended up working out just fine.

Look how cute it is:

I think the kids found it to be about as thrilling as I did in elementary school. Which is not very. But I enjoyed it very much in my advanced age.

Bucket List Item # 17

I am scared to DEATH of snakes.

While hiking, or out in the wilderness I don't enjoy myself much because I am TERRIFIED of seeing one.

The mere thought of it is enough to make me light-headed.

But when making my bucket list my kids not so subtly suggested that I put hold a snake on it. I wasn't sure about the idea and at first refused. The did some continual prodding, and I finally agreed.

I really didn't want to have to worry about it for the rest of my life, but lucky for me the opportunity to hold one presented itself TODAY!

TODAY!!!!

For pre-school we had a visit from Roos-n-More planned. Before leaving for the field trip Sadie and I were discussing what animals we thought we would be there. When I wondered aloud if they would be bringing a snake, Sade asked me, "Are you going to face your fear?!" I love when she says an expression that I never knew she knew!

Sure enough there was one there.

As it slithered around on the ground I almost lost my nerve. I was feeling faintish, and my heart was beating fast.

BUT I DID IT!

And miracle of miracles I didn't have a panic attack in the process.

I have no memory of holding its head. I may have blacked out for a minute.

The look of accomplishment:

Don't tell, but it wasn't even really that bad. That being said, I am still not ready to commit to seeing one in the wilderness!

I only wrote my list one month ago, and already two items have come true. Apparently writing my dreams down is one key to making them happen. So I guess this means a trip to see the pyramids in Egypt (Bucket List Item #10) will present itself soon! Right?

Baseball Season 2012

This year Jackson played on the Blue Jays. Eric was supposed to help coach his team but ended up being out of town for almost every single game.

Jackson played very well, as usual. He was one of he older kids on the team which allowed him to take a more active roll.

Although he was quite focused on the game, he of course also enjoyed playing around with his friends:

Megan's team was the Rays. This was her very last season playing primary sports, as she will turn 12 this summer. She played really well also. Always hitting the ball when pitched to her, and was able to get quite a few people out while playing 3rd base all season.

Bucket List Item #6

About a month ago, while driving home from Utah, Eric and I made our bucket lists. #6 on my list happened to be: MEET PHIL VASSAR. So two weeks later when I heard he was coming to Las Vegas, I started to get excited.

I knew this was my chance.

So I entered to win meet and greet tickets, and was certain I would win! In case you didn't know I am a real believer in The Secret (It has changed my life!).

But then I didn't win. Hmpfff........

But we of course went to the concert anyway!

And as you may have read previously, had a fantastic time.

THEN, as Phil walked off-stage, they announced that if you bought his new C.D. he would MEET YOU and autograph it for you right then.

So I skedaddled as fast I could right over to the tent, and happily handed over my $20.

My first bucket list item was coming true!

The kids and I up by the stage during the last song:

Sadly, pictures of the greeting were not allowed, but I am thrilled to report that not only did I get to meet Phil, but I received a HUG, plus had a real life conversation. Of course Eric and the kids were there too, and were just as enamored with him as I was. Well not really, but I am pretty sure they enjoyed it.

Other highlights of the night. Phil of course:

Jackson was always singing and clapping along:

Sade and Eric did quite a bit of dancing:

Snow-cone eating:

Me and Meg:

And finally the tent, where the famed meeting took place:

A special shout out to my husband, who has listened to me go on and on ad nauseum about the meeting with Phil, and who also dedicated one of his bucket list items to making sure are all my bucket list items end up completed. I am one lucky woman!

Mother's Day 2012

While getting ready for church the kids brought me breakfast. I then carried it into the kitchen to eat it! After getting ready, it was present time! Not only did I get a cool candle and candle warmer from my mom, AND an "official" geo-caching G.P.S. from Eric, but I received lots of homemade gifts from the kids.

Megan made me a jewelry holder, a card, and some bath salts. She is always so creative and thoughful.

Jackson made me a card with flowers attached to it that held different jobs he would do for me during the week. He also made me a card with princesses on it, and then wrote on the inside, "Mom, you are a princess to me." Be still my heart.

And Sadie, who insisted on going last, made me at least 5 different cards, plus made me a candy necklace that she had received at pre-school last week. She is the sweetest.

A picture of me and the kids before church:

After church, Eric had to go to work, and I helped Megan complete her mammoth Spanish project. Typical mother duties. I then spent the remainder of the day getting ready for the Disneyland trip we took this week. Posts to follow sometime in the future......

Being a mom is simply the best.
