Utah Trip

Last week I decided to take the kids to Utah to visit my mom. It was seriously great! I don't think there is a much better place than Logan in the summer. We did a lot of fun things while we were there.

We visited 4 different parks!

We saw Despicable Me and all loved it.

We went to Willow Park Zoo.

Watching the monkeys.

Feeding the ducks.

These cranes had crazy hair, and made an incredibly loud honking sound.

Which Sadie did not appreciate very much.

We also went to visit my Grandma in Idaho. She turned 90 this year.

I was able to meet with my good friend Kate a few times.

We also went to Riverdale, which is a hot springs resort in Idaho. The hot springs are perfect for my kids who are very accustomed to warm water.

I had to physically pull Jackson up the steps to the slide the first time, but once he went down he realized how much fun it was.

The first hour we were there, only 3 other people were there too! A few more people came over the next few hours, but it was never crowded.

My kids with Grandpa and Grandma's dog, Annie.

We did a lot of fun things, but I think the most fun was sitting on the back porch every night, enjoying the beautiful weather eating popsicles. How did I not get a picture of it?

12 X 12-July 2010-Road Trip Edition

July 12th (last Monday) happened to fall on the day I was taking a road trip (BY MYSELF-with the 3 kids) to see my mom in Utah. It is about an 8 1/2 hour drive, and I was a little nervous. I can't remember a time I drove that far by myself, let alone with the kids. Anyway, I woke up at 5 am to get ready, and look who was already awake:

I don't understand how she is not sleep-deprived.

Eric packed up the car and we were on our way. Am I the only one who takes extra-bedding, and my own pillows on trips? I don't sleep well without my own pillows!

On our way, right on time I might add!

Unlike Megan I was exhausted, so I stopped and bought and energy drink. I have never bought one before, and when looking at them decided to buy the sugar free version because it only had 10 calories. HUGE MISTAKE! It was quite possibly the grossest drink ever, and I could only gag down 2 sips before giving up on it.

We had to make quite a few bathroom breaks, which meant quite a lot of hand washing. I can't even blame the bathroom breaks on the kids. I don't usually drink anything in the mornings, but when I do it causes me to have to use the bathroom about 15 times in a 2 hour period.

During our drive we passed the lavender fields, WHICH WERE SO COOL! I rolled down the window to get a picture, and the smell was incredible.

Here is how the kids looked much of the way. Mostly watching movie after movie.

We stopped in Orem to eat at The Spaghetti Factory!

Sade's modeled her new to her D.I. glasses during and after lunch.

Amazingly Megs took a quick nap for an hour or so.

Driving, driving, driving.

The trip actually went very well. Even Sadie seems to be out of the crying in the car phase, which makes me think we are entering a new era of life.

Megan's 10th Birthday Celebration

We usually swim on Wednesday's and since Megan's birthday was on a Wednesday, we went swimming!

Megan wanted to go roller skating for her birthday, so when Eric got home we headed out.

2 year olds on roller skates, can be quite hilarious. Sadie would stand up, fall down, stand up, fall down. Luckily she thought it was pretty funny.

Megan was a bit unsteady at first, but quickly got her skating legs back.

Surprisingly to me, Jackson was TERRIBLE. But he still said he had a lot of fun.

Sadie was quite content to let us pull her around the rink.

Then we came home to open presents!

You will notice that in every picture Sadie is "helping" Megan open her gifts. The temptation of wrapped presents was too much for her. Luckily Megan was gracious enough to let her "help."

Finally it was time for cake. Megan chose strawberry cake with strawberry icing. Unfortunately I had a cake malfunction this year that took off most of the icing. Luckily Megan didn't mind, because she doesn't really like icing anyway. So it all worked out.

Happy 10th Birthday Megan!
