Discarded Pics

After downloading pictures to my computer I seem to always end up with a plethora of pictures that generally end up being discarded. But not today. Today they will be shared.

4. My little Meg has pretty much grown out of the trying to be crazy in pictures phase. Except for when she cracked us up by climbing into this robe:



5. And lastly, Sadie Sade. Recently she has become an extreme picture taking fanatic. Yesterday morning she took 97 pictures within 15 minutes. 30 or so were of different Princesses in her room, while about 30 more were of various pieces of furniture. But my favorites were the ones she took of herself. Here is a sampling:

Techies

It seems that we are a bit technology obsessed around these parts. Eric snapped these pics of me, Jackson and Sadie the other day. Both Jackson and I are on Galaxy Tabs, while Sadie is playing on Eric's phone. Oh.....And did I mention the T.V. was also on? And that Megan was on the computer in the other room?

Spirit Week 2012

The kiddies just finished up a week of dressing up for Spirit week at school.

Day 1: Sports Day. No pic. Megan wore a Seahawks shirt, and Jackson didn't dress up, due to a field trip he had that day.

Day 2: Rodeo Day! I tried my very best to get Megan to wear my cowboy boots, but she refused. I am sure she will live to regret it!





Day 3: Spirit Day. No excitement. No pics. Just regular Somerset Friday day wear.

Day 4: Decades Day! Jackson went with the 50's (because it was easiest), while Megan went with the 90's. If there is one thing I know about, it is dressing for the 90's. That is my generation baby! I convinced Megan to go for the grunge look. And what if more 90's than black tights with shorts, and a flannel shirt?  Luckily my purple Docs fit her well.





When I asked Eric what clothes he thought of when he thought of the 90's, he responded with, "I was still dressing like it was the 80's in the 90's." So, so true. Let's just say that if he would never have met me, he might still be wearing a brown braided belt, with his t-shirts tucked into his jeans. I have saved him!

Day 5: Pajama Day! I gave up all control and let them wear whatever the heck they wanted:




And no offense if you are a t-shirt tuckeriner. It's just that in the 90's we didn't do that. We were cool and wore the aforementioned tights with shorts.

Quick Trip To The UT

This is how Eric's schedule has been lately: Go out of town for 3 days, come home for 12 hours, go out of town for 3 days, come home for 12 hours, repeat.....

So when I heard he was going to be going to Logan (my hometown!) for 4 days, the kids and I decided to pack up and go with him. It was a good opportunity to spend time with Eric, even if it was just in the car, and while sleeping, plus it was also a great opportunity to visit family and friends!

Our first adventure was a trip to Willow Park "Zoo." Which truthfully isn't much of a zoo, but still is nostalgic for me.

When I travel to Logan I like to spend as much time as possible outside. But this trip was a bit chilly so we did a few more indoor activities, one of which was roller skating:



Sade refused any help and fell down at least 200 times, but got up happy each time. Her stubbornness and independence sometimes serves her very well.








That night I had dinner with Kate, my bestest friend from high school. And still one of my bestest friends. Before leaving for Utah I had found this picture that we had taken in what I believe was our Junior year of high school:



So I convinced her to try and recreate it. Our 2 attempts:




Successful?

The kids and I spent our last day visiting our favorite oldies: My Grandma (age 91) and Eric's Grandpa (age 96). First we headed up to Idaho to see my Grandma:





She gave my kids money to buy candy at the store next door, which thrilled Sadie to the bone. She was literally jumping with excitement. That girl is a candy lover:



Then it was our turn to visit Grandpa. He quite enjoyed Megan's boots:






The next morning we packed up and headed home. And then the morning after that, Eric left town again! Tis the life.

Date In The Desert

Our love of geocaching continues. Literally. Eric surprised me with a love packed date to find a series of geocaches shaped liked a heart out in the desert. He knows me so well. See how cute it is:

The heart consisted of a series of 21 different geocaches. We started at 9 a.m., which I consider extremely early for a Saturday morning, but it was still so HOT! Especially in the desert.

After a couple of hours we found the first 20. I was excited because we only had one more left. #21, The Grand Finale, The Center Of The Heart! We checked the coordinates, and set out. However, when we arrived, we couldn't find anything :(. Eric then read the detailed description of #21, which told him that were were supposed to be looking for clues about the actual coordinates from the first 20 geocaches! Say What? Don't you think they should have told us about that at clue #1. I was sad. And mad. And ready to give up.

But while I was taking angry pictures of myself, Eric, who is gifted with persistence, found it!

 

Then I was happy:

It took us about 3 hours, and I ended up super sunburned, but I loved every minute. Except for the angry bits.

Not only have Eric and I been out geocaching, but we of course have also been geocaching with the kids.  I am happy to report that we have now successfully found all of the geocaches we were unable to find before we were good:

 Woot-Woot!!!
