12 X 12 - February 2013

This post officially marks 4 years of doing 12 X 12's! I started WAY BACK in February of 2009, and have not missed a month. To look back at my first post, click here. You may notice that I had 9 comments on that post! I fondly remember the days of 10-20 comments.
Anyway......After breakfast Sadie generally steals my phone and either plays games, take pictures, or makes videos.

Lunch making! This time it was macaroni and cheese for both Megan and Jackson:

I am not pregnant (and there is no chance I am). But when I am pregnant I crave green Tums like crazy! Seriously. Until I deliver they are the only things I want. So imagine my surprise when the craving for them came back 3 months ago. I'm obsessed.

Soon after satisfying my craving, I received a call from Megan that she had left her lunch in the Warner Bus (the nickname for the carpool van). Which meant a trip to the van and then to the school for me and Sade.

Then it was off to the gym! It is wonderful that they offer childcare, and wonderful that Sadie likes it. I have been going to the gym FAIRLY consistently, but tend to lose motivation if I do not have a friend work-out partner.

After the gym Sade and I did a little grocery shopping at Smith's. I am a Smith's fan, but it physically pains me to pay dollars more for items (i.e. cereal, bread, nuts, produce) that I know I can get cheaper. However, strangely, their orange juice is always a great buy! At $2.68 a gallon it was crazy cheap yesterday.

Upon arriving home we discovered Tucker was out of water. We promptly refilled it and then watched him drink for at least a solid minute.

Sade convinced me to buy her this large donut from Smith's for lunch yesterday.

Although it isn't my week to drive carpool I did have to pick Megan and her friend up from play practice around 4:15. In this picture she is telling her friend to "Just act normal and ignore me." She is not overly fond of me taking pictures on the 12th.

For dinner I made the Balsamic Roast (found on Pinterest) and Sadie and I also made some bread:

After dinner, Sade made some more videos on my phone, and then sat on the couch and belly laughed hysterically each time she watched them.

Eric was working late, so the kids and I spent the night doing homework, getting ready for the next day, watching T.V., playing games, and working on the Candy Grams they intended to buy for their friends:

Viva 12 X 12's!

Flipper Bowl 2013

Last Friday night was the highly anticipated (by Jackson) Annual Ward Flipper Bowl! Eric had a soccer tournament, I don't play, Megan doesn't play, and Sadie doesn't play, so all of our hopes and dreams rested on Jackson's itty-bitty shoulders.
His first match-up was against a 10 year old boy.

Jackson played well and ended up with a decisive victory:

His next round featured a match-up against an 11 year old boy:

His concentration signature pose involves a side exposed tongue:

Another decisive victory!!

Round three brought the toughest competition yet! A 15 year old Young Woman:

The tongue makes yet another appearance:

This was a close competition but Jackson pulled it out for the win!

Round 4. The round before the finals! This time he sparred with another 10 year old boy.

The tongue again!

Jackson was ahead the entire game, but in the last 5 seconds his competition scored a touchdown and took the lead by one point! Crushing!!!

But luckily Jackson is good natured and was beyond thrilled he had made it so far. He couldn't wait to call Eric and tell him the wonderful news.

Star Stallion

Jackson was the January Star Stallion at school! The life skill being honored during January was RESPONSIBILITY.

Some of his fellow honorees:

Some things Jackson's teacher said about him:

*He is always on-time and ready to learn.
*He always has him homework out in a neat pile and ready to be checked.
*He is a roll model to other students.
*He is always nice to his peers, and always willing to help others when needed.
*He has over 100 A.R. points (this got a reaction from the crowd).
*He goes above and beyond on all of his projects.
*He does extra work on ScootPad every night.

The only thing better than being a Star Stallion is when your best friend is a Star Stallion too!

Congratulations Carson!

And congratulations Jackson!

New Talent

This week Eric and I discovered a talent in Sadie we did not know she possessed.
She is a supremely good head stander!

She started off the night needing a bit of help up:

But soon (after 2 or 3 tries) she progressed into being able to get up all by herself:

She can even do tricks now:

She's a wonder! :)

Everyday Life - Rule Breaking

As evidenced by the Christmas decor in the background these pictures are a bit old.
Sometimes, if I am particularly entertained, I allow a little rule breaking. On this particular night Sade entertained me with her flipping on the couch to a degree that I not only allowed it to happen but got out my camera and encouraged her along.

Some rules are made to be broken.

She's A Woman Now

That's right. With the loss of her last baby tooth, her girlhood has come to an end, and she has entered the realm of full-fledged womanhood.

May your journey continue to be cavity free!
